The Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE) is soliciting proposals for Summer/Fall quarter workshops and seminars focused on topics that impact digitally-enabled research at UCLA. Events could address research challenges, emerging methodologies, software or tools, computational questions, or advances in hardware and infrastructure. The program’s goals are to address critical research issues, bring together UCLA faculty, and establish new collaborations that can lead to new funding opportunities or campus investments.

The UC Center Sacramento announces its annual Emerging Scholars Award for Excellence in Research and Public Policy. The award will recognize excellence in graduate student research with a direct impact on public policy. The recipients of the Emerging Scholars Award will receive a cash prize and will deliver an invited policy lecture at the UC Center Sacramento.\

Proposals are now being accepted for the Faculty Career Development Award program (FCDA). This program provides funding for regular rank Assistant Professors and Assistant Professors-in-Residence at a critical time in the pre-tenure stage. The funding is to assist faculty as they advance an on-going research project, creative activity, or as they embark on a new project. Awards are made in the form of a lump-sum of $5,000 – $15,000 in research funds. Please note that funding is allocated for the AY 23-24 and does not renew.

The California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA (CNSI) has recently received a philanthropic commitment of $10 million over three years to establish the Noble Family Innovation Fund. The Noble Fund focuses on identifying, supporting and accelerating high-risk, high‐reward research, from basic to translational, with promise for commercialization and societal impact. Their goal is to create a model for academic research and entrepreneurship that enables strategic investment to seed discoveries that have the potential to be translated for the public good.
