On Thursday, September 24, 2020, Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel Michael S. Levine and Vice Chancellor for Research Roger Wakimoto shared a BruinPost about UCLA’s commitment to compliance with reporting requirements related to outside professional activities and how to comply with UC policy as described in Academic Personnel Manual 025 (PDF) (APM-025).
VC Levine and VC Wakimoto referenced UCLA’s web-based application the UC Outside Activity Tracking System (OATS) which facilitates reporting, reviewing, and tracking outside activities for faculty, reviewers, and approvers. In the BruinPost, VC Levine and VC Wakimoto shared a list of eligible faculty members who are subject to APM-025 and are required to report outside activities for fiscal year 2019-20 by September 30, 2020, as well as a chart with details about the different Outside Activities Categories. VC Levine and VC Wakimoto also referenced Appendix 19 of The UCLA CALL which provides further information regarding time limits, conflict of interest, intellectual property, and compliance requirements.
