SPIN Funding Opportunity Database

As a resource for the UCLA campus community, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities  provides an institution-wide subscription to the SPIN funding opportunity database.

The Office of Research & Creative Activities currently provides an institution-wide subscription to SPIN funding opportunity database. SPIN offers:

  • Over 40,000 programs from more than 10,000 unique sponsors
  • Opportunities from a range of sponsor types (e.g. federal, foundation, and corporate)
  • Programs with a wide variety of eligibility (e.g. student, postdoc, and faculty) across all disciplines
  • Ability to set up customizable funding searches and alerts

Single Sign-On Access

SPIN access is available to UCLA faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students. Access to SPIN is available using your UCLA single sign-on credentials. On the landing page, use the login option under "Sign in using institutional credentials." Choose UCLA from the list of institutions to be prompted for your login information.

Internal Funding

Internal funding and award opportunities (those managed by UCLA or other UC campuses) are one resource for the campus community to support and recognize engagement in research and creative activities.

The Research Enhancement Office (REO) maintains a database with a collection of funding opportunities managed by UCLA and other UCs open to members of the UCLA community.

Submit/Update an Internal Funding Opportunity 

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research & Creative Activities (ORCA) supports a number of internal funding and award mechanisms. Past cycles have included:

UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) Funding Opportunities Website

The UCLA CTSI supports a range of funding opportunities. More information regarding current and past opportunities can be found on their website (linked above).

The UCLA CTSI is a research partnership of UCLA, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and Harbor-UCLA Medical Center/Lundquist Institute for Biomedical Innovation. The CTSI provides the research infrastructure to translate discoveries to improve health in Los Angeles County, a diverse metropolis of 10 million people.
